Gene Autry pursues treasure hunters searching for Aztec riches near old Indian ruins, following a map left by Janet's father. When Gene discovers a suspicious group of men with plans to drive stolen cattle to market, he suspects foul play and determines to intercept them before a supply plane arrives. Gene engages in a gunfight with the outlaws, ultimately confronting the ringleader to stop their scheme and protect a woman named Mary from the criminals' machinations.
