The first album collecting Tristan Demers' Gargouille arrives from Éditions Mille-Îles with a cover full of cheerful chaos — a wide-eyed, spiky-haired young boy in a yellow jacket stands bewildered beside a fence while a red dog, a green bird, and a black cat scatter through the countryside behind him. Subtitled Chasse aux mystères!, this 1988 Québécois series opens with a sense of playful adventure that feels right at home alongside the great Franco-Belgian comic traditions.
