Gang Busters #47 brings the action underwater in this August–September 1955 DC issue, as a diver in a heavy green deep-sea suit struggles against two aggressive skin-divers attacking him from above — all while a concerned sergeant radios in from a inset panel, anxious for his man's safety. John Prentice's cover work captures the tension of the featured story, "The Undersea Sleuth," with crisp linework that sells both the danger of the murky depths and the desperation of the radio exchange. A fine slice of mid-fifties crime comics, proudly declaring its Comics Code approval and living up to the series' enduring motto: "You Can't Beat the Law!
