Galactus preparing to end all life on the Shi'ar homeworld, the Surfer & his allies try to devise a plan to bring him down. With the heroes only able to score minor victories against a weakened Galactus, he prepares to suck up their life force to feed his hunger. The Surfer subverts Galactus' world ship to his will & fires on his master, bringing Galactus down. As he's dying, Galactus tells Surfer that he picked him as a herald because he knew that the Surfer would one day have the strength to end his life. He warns of a greater danger lurking in the cosmos waiting to strike. Galactus dies.
