Gabby Hayes faces off against the sharpest-shooting hombre in the West in a comedic showdown. After a series of slapstick mishaps—including Beaver Ben attempting to give Gabby a bath with soap that sends him slipping—Gabby falls asleep while standing and crashes through the ranch attic door, where he encounters Beaver Ben performing magic tricks. The story culminates in a wild fight between the two characters, with Beaver Ben boasting of his quick-draw skills while Gabby responds with his characteristic foolish antics and exaggerated reactions.

7 pp · Western-Frontier

Gabby Hayes is so exhausted from helping the local kids build a clubhouse that he sneaks off for a nap inside it—only to find himself trapped with two escaped convicts using it as a hideout. It's a race against time as the kids return to reclaim their meeting place and Gabby fights to stay one step ahead of danger.

Beaver Ben, the Biting Bandit
8 pp · Western-Frontier

Gabby Hayes's big mouth gets him into trouble when he boasts about his powerful bite to the wrong stranger—a newcomer named Beaver Ben who can chomp through anything, from silver dollars to solid gold. When a bet over the boast costs Gabby his beloved horse Corker, he'll do anything to get his friend back, even if it means letting the mysterious biter use him for a humiliating scheme around town. But Corker's loyalty and quick thinking might just turn the tables on this biting bandit.

By Thunder
1 pp · Humor, Western-Frontier

When a couple can't decide whether to trust the radio or the newspaper's weather forecast, they turn to an Indian chief for wisdom—only to get a hilariously practical answer that cuts through all the modern confusion. This one-page humor piece plays on the clash between city folks' reliance on technology and a chief's no-nonsense approach to reading the skies.
