# G.I. Sweethearts #41 This issue contains two romantic stories centered on wartime relationships. In "He Wouldn't Return," Alice fears her boyfriend David has changed after his military service, but discovers his apparent coldness stems from his sense of duty to his brother Johnny, whose memory haunts them both. The couple ultimately reconciles, with David proposing to Alice in Australia. In the second story, a young woman named Virginia falls for a soldier named Ken, who invites her to a dance where he teaches her the missing waltz. Virginia later discovers Ken is actually in love with another woman named Audrey, but Ken confesses his true feelings are for Virginia, having only used the dance as a way to get close to her, leading to their romantic reunion.
