G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #101
In "The New Guard," Mutt and Spirit team up with Russ and the uncorrupted teens of Millville to resist Cobra’s grip on their town, while Hawk’s covert mission with the Oktober Guard hits a deadly ambush in Sierra Gordo. Meanwhile, Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow face a wrenching moment as Scarlett’s sister arrives with a court order to turn off her life support. Written by Larry Hama and illustrated by Mark Bright, with inks by Randy Emberlin, colors by Bob Sharen, and letters by Rick Parker, the cover by Lee Weeks captures the tension of a new era in the G.I. Joe conflict.

Mutt and Spirit, alongside Russ (from last issue), hook up with the teens of Millville, not brainwashed, to try and keep Cobra from taking over the town. Meanwhile, Hawk sends a team of Joes to hook up with members of the Oktober Guard for a mission into Sierra Gordo, and as they approach Sierra Gordo, they are ambushed by a Cobra force led by Darklon. Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow are by the still-comatose Scarlett's bedside when her sister appears with a court order to disconnect her life support.
