This anthology issue contains war stories set on the frontline. "Vest-Pocket Hero" follows Shorty O'Brien, the shortest soldier in the Army, who proves his worth when he uses a new bullet-proof nylon vest to survive enemy fire and protect his fellow soldiers in combat. The issue also features "Walking Targets," in which inexperienced replacement troops are sent into a dangerous zeroed road during an enemy attack, leading to casualties as a sergeant attempts to teach them survival tactics under fire, culminating in a grenade incident that kills some of the soldiers.
