# G.I. Combat #19 American soldiers encounter a pursuing Soviet half-track and motorcycle unit during a combat operation. After initial skirmishes, the men become trapped and use their last home-made grenade in a desperate stand, but accidentally discover an ammunition dump which they detonate, destroying the enemy force. The soldiers celebrate their narrow escape and miraculous victory, though their commanding officer later reveals the explosion was actually caused by the accidental hit on an enemy ammunition cache rather than their grenade, making their survival even more fortunate than they realized.

Red Invasion
9 pp · War

When a mock invasion exercise off the coast of Formosa goes terribly wrong, American troops and Free Chinese forces find themselves trapped on Kushi Hill facing a genuine Red Chinese invasion they never saw coming. With live ammunition in short supply and their navy miles away, the soldiers must improvise explosive charges from dummy ammunition and makeshift materials to hold the line against overwhelming odds. It's a desperate fight for survival where a training maneuver becomes all too real.

No Escape
6 pp · War

Two Korean-American G.I.s—Johnny Yang and Frankie Hoi—volunteer for a dangerous mission behind enemy lines in Communist North Korea, disguising themselves as civilians to gather intelligence on a suspected Red Army movement. When their cover is blown and they're hunted by overwhelming enemy forces, the pair must use all their wits and nerve to fight their way back toward friendly territory with the entire Communist army in pursuit. It's a nail-biting race against impossible odds, with only their grit and quick thinking standing between them and capture.

Storm Attack
7 pp · War

When a native's frantic warning reaches a U.S. Army outpost in New Guinea, intelligence pinpoints a Red ammunition depot hidden at Mole Hill deep in the jungle—but a sudden monsoon and fierce enemy fortifications turn the mission into a desperate uphill battle. As tanks bog down in mud and artillery support fails to arrive, the soldiers must find another way to locate and destroy the enemy's supply cache before they're overwhelmed. It's a race against both the weather and the clock to stop the Reds from using their stored ammunition against them.

Death on Helicopter Hill
6 pp · War

A cocky G.I. named "Kite" Kerrigan watches a helicopter get shot down by enemy jets over Korea's neutral zone, and he and his patrol rush to rescue the wounded pilot—only to find themselves pinned down on a hillside with no way out. When it becomes clear the trapped pilot's broken leg makes escape on foot impossible, "Kite" gets his unlikely chance to prove he can fly after all, attempting to pilot the damaged helicopter to safety while under enemy fire and with only crash-course instructions to guide him. It's a high-stakes gamble where a wisecracking G.I.'s dream of flying collides headlong with the desperate reality of combat.
