Future State: Teen Titans #1

Part of DC's 2021 Future State event, this first issue drops us into a tomorrow that looks anything but bright — Sandoval's cover depicts five Teen Titans scrambling across a burning, debris-strewn landscape, with Nightwing and a pale, dark-haired figure fighting to stay upright in the foreground while Starfire, a red-clad archer, and a caped figure battle through the chaos behind them. The scorched, apocalyptic atmosphere makes it immediately clear that wherever this future leads, the team has already paid a serious price to get there. Writer Tim Sheridan and artist Rafa Sandoval promise a story — titled "Ruins" — that earns every bit of that word.
