The Fall 1944 issue of Animated Funny Comic-Tunes serves up a cheerful beach scene straight from the golden age of funny-animal comics. A mischievous cat in a striped shirt and top hat gleefully aims a magnifying glass at a grinning sun while a rotund little pig labeled "Ziggy" lounges on a blanket below and a wide-eyed seal pup looks on with amused concern — all while the sun himself declares it's going to be "a hot one." David Gantz brings a lively, rubbery energy to the whole ensemble, making this ten-cent Fall issue a genuinely delightful snapshot of wartime all-ages humor at its most playful.
