Issue #5 of Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man brings a wonderfully everyday tension to its cover, with Spider-Man lunging dramatically through a room while a young blonde woman sits focused at her computer, seemingly unaware of the wall-crawler closing in behind her. A Daily Bugle headline — "Spider-Man Menace!!" — is pinned to the wall, adding a nice dose of irony to the scene. Mike Wieringo's pencils and Karl Kesel's inks give the whole composition a warm, energetic flow that perfectly suits writer Peter David's run on the title.
