Frankenstein Alive, Alive! #4

The fourth and final issue of this atmospheric IDW series brings together Steve Niles and the late Bernie Wrightson — with Kelley Jones completing the art — for a haunting send-off to their passion project. Wrightson's cover, rendered in his signature painterly style within an elegant oval vignette, depicts Frankenstein's creature cradling a limp, pale figure in what feels like a moment of tremendous sorrow amid a darkened, stone-walled setting. It's a deeply human image from a team that clearly loved this material, and a moving capstone to one of horror comics' most heartfelt labors of love.
