Frankenstein throws a monster-themed party and, as a prank to amuse his guests, invites his new neighbors—the refreshingly ordinary May and Fritz—who mistake the gathering for a costume affair. When a home talent contest breaks out, the couple's mundane trick of writing with a novelty underwater pen manages to win over Frankenstein's supernatural crowd, leaving the mad doctor so impressed he decides to try outdoing them himself with increasingly wild (and destructive) schemes.

Frankenstein stumbles upon his old friend Marvin living as a hermit in the mountains, armed with a gift sweater and good intentions—but Marvin's passionate flute playing has made him deeply unpopular with the locals, especially a mysterious woman with serpents for hair. When Frankenstein teaches Marvin to play a proper "charming" melody, the music works a little too well, and the two discover an unexpected romance blooming in the most peculiar of circumstances.

When a mad scientist's mind-control experiments turn the whole world topsy-turvy, Frankenstein finds himself immune to the chaos—and decides to hunt down a moose to impress his peculiar friends. But pleasing ghouls and vampires proves trickier than expected, especially when they'd rather see him stay his old, messy self. A wild romp through 1947 where the monster of the house discovers that trying too hard to fit in only makes everyone think you're the crazy one.
