Four Favorites is an anthology featuring four superhero stories. The first story involves Unknown Soldier and other characters in a wartime conflict where Americans must unite to fight against Nazi and Japanese enemies, despite their personal differences. Captain Courageous travels to India's palace of Rham El Ghand to meet with the leader of a warrior race, the Moslems, who possesses a symbol of eternal power. Lightning, after five years imprisoned in the Big House, returns to face his nemesis, the vengeful Madame Death and Dark Eyes, determined to prevent repeating past mistakes and eliminate these masters of death.

When two brawling American sailors, Red Hook and Squirt, keep crossing paths in increasingly absurd circumstances, they have no idea they're about to stumble into the schemes of Dr. Oxyo, a brilliant Nazi scientist who's constructed an impossibly ambitious weapon: a balloon-borne stratospheric airfield hidden miles above the Earth, complete with hidden landing platforms in the ocean below. The Unknown Soldier must contend with a foe whose scientific mastery and cunning planning represent a threat unlike any the Allies have faced before.
