Foc #1
Part of Dargaud's "Histoires Fantastiques" line, this 1984 Franco-Belgian album from Durand and Bordes plunges readers into dark fantasy with Les mangeurs d'espoir — "The Hope Eaters." The cover sets a memorably grim tone: three desperate, rough-clad figures flee through a rocky, moonlit landscape, clutching weapons and crying out in terror, while a massive winged creature looms from the shadows above and a ghastly skulled form glows ominously in the foreground. It's a striking visual promise of dread and adventure that showcases exactly the kind of brooding, imaginative storytelling the "Histoires Fantastiques" imprint did so well in the early 1980s.
