Flying Witch #1

The story follows her gentle, slice-of-life adventures as she adjusts to country living, makes new friends, and learns to harness her magical abilities in everyday situations. This collection includes the opening chapters of Chihiro Ishizuka's warmly received manga series, originally serialized in Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Sirius.
In "Six Years Since the Last Mystery," Makoto sets out on a quiet walk through her neighborhood with Chito as her guide, testing her knowledge of the familiar streets. But Chito’s focus is less on navigation and more on provoking a neighborhood dog, turning the stroll into a lighthearted, offbeat journey. Written by Chihiro Ishizuka and Melissa Tanaka, with art and inks by Chihiro Ishizuka and lettering by Grace Lu and Tomoe Tsutsumi, the issue captures a whimsical slice of life with a touch of magical realism. The cover by Chihiro Ishizuka perfectly frames the story’s gentle, curious tone.
In "Six Years Since the Last Mystery," ten-year-old Chinatsu finds herself unexpectedly sharing her home with her cousin Jo, a quiet girl from the countryside who arrives with a quiet mystery of her own. As their days unfold in the familiar rhythms of the Kuramoto household, Chinatsu begins to notice something strange—Jo can float on a broom, and the world around her seems just a little more magical than it should be.
In "The National Bird's Incessant Call," Makoto, still new to her witchcraft, begins tending a garden behind her home—only to find herself distracted by a wild pheasant that’s taken up residence in the yard. As she tries to focus on her herb planting, the bird’s persistent calls draw her into a quiet, curious pursuit.
In "How Your Familiar Can Help," Makoto sets out on a quiet walk through her neighborhood with Chito, her familiar, hoping to learn the lay of the land. But Chito has other plans—more interested in teasing a mischievous neighborhood dog than showing her the way.
