Flat-Top #1
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join free"Mazie's Adventures with Flat-Top" is a teenage humor comic featuring the character Mazie and her friends Stevie and Mortie. The visible story shows Mazie at a football stadium where she attracts a crowd of admirers, later hosting a sit-and-sip party where she gives her friend Stevie a gag gift that backfires, and finally a sequence where a girl pursues Flat-Top during a party, chasing him onto a flying trapeze. The comic is presented as an all-new collection of teenage stories aimed at young readers.
In "Reckless Drive-In," Mortie gets a chance to run the projector at his uncle’s drive-in, eager to show off his new 3-D invention to the crowd. But when Flat-Top pulls a prank by letting a tame tiger leap through the screen, chaos erupts—until the sheriff arrives to restore order, leaving both the tiger and Flat-Top wrapped in loose film.
In "Carney Blarney," Mazie finds herself drawn to a flashy carnival barker whose slang-heavy charm wins her over—until she starts mimicking his rhythm and speech, much to the confusion of her friends. When the truth emerges that he’s actually a college student studying American slang, her admiration turns to disbelief, and her carefully adopted swagger hits a wall.
Flat-Top’s attitude has cost him his spot on the team, so he takes a mischievous revenge by slipping itching powder into the quarterback’s jersey. When he’s called in to play at the big game, he’s forced to wear the sabotaged gear—and suddenly, every itch drives him to play with a fury he’s never known.
Mortie dozes through astronomy class spouting overconfidence about the moon, but his cocky attitude gets put to the test when he and his classmate Laura actually land there—only to crash into the Moon Kingdom and face an angry empress and her scheming prime minister. Armed with a secret anti-gravity pistol and some quick thinking, Mortie has to navigate lunar royalty, missing space crews, and creatures both furry and decidedly strange if he hopes to escape with his hide intact.
When Stevie and her friends dream up a "summons party"—where girls serve boys official-looking court papers that obligate them to be their dates—the scheme spirals into hilarious chaos as the boys go to increasingly ridiculous lengths to avoid getting trapped. A case of mistaken summonses during a street collision turns the whole plan upside down, leaving everyone scrambling to sort out who's actually supposed to go with whom when the dance finally arrives.
