The cover of this December 1990 issue says it all — a bloodied Flash costume glove reaches desperately upward while the massive, snarling Gorilla Grodd looms above, surrounded by a pack of predatory animals, promising zero mercy for the Scarlet Speedster. Greg LaRocque and José Marzán Jr. deliver a genuinely unsettling image that makes the tagline "At Grodd's Mercy!" feel well-earned. William Messner-Loebs and LaRocque's run on Flash had a knack for putting Wally West in viscerally compelling danger, and "Dog Days" looks to be no exception.
