Firebreather #4
The fourth chapter of "Growing Pains" arrives in style with Andy Kuhn's striking cover — a massive yellow-green kaiju-like creature dominates the scene, surrounded by a crowd of equally monstrous beings in purples, blues, and grays, while a small winged silhouette stands defiantly amid flames in the foreground. Phil Hester and Kuhn bring real energy to this Image series about life caught between two very different worlds, and that lone figure facing down a mob of giants captures the series' spirit beautifully. Bill Crabtree's bold color choices give the whole composition a vivid, almost otherworldly atmosphere that makes this issue hard to put down before you've even opened the cover.
