Final Fight #1 (2024) marks the first time Capcom's landmark 1989 arcade beat-'em-up has received its own dedicated comic book series — a gap of more than three decades during which the franchise appeared only as supporting material inside UDON's Street Fighter titles. By giving Cody Travers, Guy, and Mike Haggar a standalone five-issue vehicle rooted squarely in the events of the original game, UDON established a formal comics canon for the Metro City universe entirely separate from the Street Fighter crossover stories. The issue also represents a deliberate creative pivot for UDON, deploying a Western action-comics visual style in place of the studio's signature manga-inflected house look — a meaningful artistic statement about how the gritty, pixel-saturated world of the original arcade title should translate to the page. History

UDON Entertainment, long Capcom's exclusive comics partner on Street Fighter, had flagged interest in a Final Fight comic as far back as 2009, but the standalone series did not materialize until 2024 when the studio announced it in their July 2024 solicitations. Writer Matt Moylan, UDON's managing editor and a veteran of multiple Street Fighter comics projects, scripted the series, while Matthew Weldon — known for DC's Punchline and Red Sonja — handled interior art, with colorist Espen Grundetjern completing the visual team. UDON used Free Comic Book Day 2024 (Street Fighter vs. Final Fight #1, written by Chris Sarracini) as a promotional runway for the franchise in comics before the standalone series launched in July, giving readers a taste of the Metro City characters alongside the Street Fighter cast before the dedicated title hit shelves.
