Fin de la parenthèse #[nn]
From Rue de Sèvres comes this 2016 French-language graphic novel by the multitalented Joann Sfar, who handles every creative role — writing, drawing, inking, and lettering — entirely on his own. The cover, rendered in Sfar's expressive linework, gathers a group of four women in a richly decorated interior, the foreground dominated by a striking blonde in a vivid green dress adorned with a star, while a woman in a flowing blue gown stands close by and two more figures linger in the warm, textured background. "Fin de la parenthèse" — "The End of the Parenthesis" — promises the kind of intimate, emotionally layered storytelling that makes Sfar one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary bande dessinée.
