When Lord Lumpitt overhears the lie, the stage is set for a day of escalating absurdity, all in pursuit of a reputation that’s far more polished than his batting average.

Ezra Starke has returned to the crumbling Gallows Grange, and with him, a new reign of cunning crime. Under a series of unbreakable disguises, he moves unseen through the shadows, evading the law while the local figures—The Duke of Cranbrook, Isaac Fingle, Captain Dashwood, and Trooper Twitcher—begin to notice the strange, deliberate patterns in the chaos. But in a house steeped in history and suspicion, even the cleverest disguise may not hide the truth forever.
