"Treachery in the Caribbean" depicts a World War I naval engagement in which American forces encounter a German U-boat and a disguised merchant vessel. A sailor named Alston participates in the action against a Japanese aircraft, and subsequently becomes involved in a scheme where a naval officer plans to attack an Allied target ship while disguising it as an enemy vessel to frame the duplicated ship for the crime. The story involves the interception and pursuit of this deceptive warship, with the ultimate goal of stopping the sabotage plot and exposing the treachery aboard the destroyer.
