This anthology issue contains two military stories. The first, "14 KT Hero," follows PFC Dinkie Devers and SGT Jess Angrum during the Korean War in December 1951, where Devers initially appears cowardly but proves himself heroic when he rescues the wounded Angrum despite a slug through his back muscles, earning medals for his bravery. The second story, "Submarine Successful," is a first-person account by a retired submarine commander recounting his experience commanding the USS Longfish during World War II, including a dangerous mission to Labola Island to pick up Dr. Walter Kremer under coded orders, and a subsequent amphibious landing on the Normandy beach on June 6, 1944.
