The concluding chapter of Gilbert Hernandez's four-part series arrives with a cover that pulls no punches: Fatima, cool-eyed and dressed in yellow, holds up a futuristic gun alongside the bloodied, wide-eyed head of a grotesque figure — a vivid splash of crimson erupting behind them against a stark green background. Hernandez's flat, boldly graphic linework gives the image an unsettling pulp-horror energy that's entirely his own.
