Seeking to escape his imprisonment on Earth, the Surfer travels into the far future. He does escape Earth, but finds the universe under the thumb of a merciless dictator possessing great physical power. Unable to best the dictator in combat, the Surfer travels backwards in time and alters the events that led to the dictator's birth. The Surfer then returns to his own proper time.
