Fantastic Four #8
The cover says it all — "At Last... The Torch Cuts Loose!" — and Salvador Larroca and Art Thibert deliver on that promise with a blazing Human Torch erupting in full flame at center stage, trading blows with a red-and-blue armored figure above while a grey-skinned, snarling creature looms in from the lower left. Chris Claremont's "Storm Warnings" rounds out a creative team clearly having a great time pushing Marvel's First Family to their limits. This August 1998 issue is a punchy, kinetic snapshot of the Fantastic Four era at its most visually charged.
