Val and Reed build a teleporter to return all the heroes to Earth. The Future Foundation stays behind to search for the remains of the disintegrated Molecule Man. Returning to New York, the FF find themselves in the middle of a fight between the Fantastix, a team which has replaced them, and the Wrecking Crew. Val figures out that the battle was staged as a publicity stunt, and offers the Wrecking Crew a bigger payoff to end the fight.
