In "If I Fail, A World Is Lost!", Iron Man must prove his worth when Senator Byrd arrives to audit Stark's factory, leading Happy Hogan to volunteer for a risky submarine test—only for Iron Man to take the plunge himself. Under the sea, he encounters Attuma, who's preparing an assault on the surface, forcing a clash that ends with Iron Man destroying Attuma's weapon but surviving only to face Byrd's harsh criticism. With Happy missing and the mission a failure in the eyes of the senator, Iron Man must now confront the consequences of a test that went wrong—and the threat that may still be rising beneath the waves.

In "Divided -- We Fall! [Part 1]," the X-Men—Professor X, Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Beast, Angel, and Iceman—find their vacation shattered when phantom versions of themselves pull them into Central Park.
