“Forced into Marriage”

In "Forced into Marriage," Hope faces a crushing blow when her father’s death in a plane crash leaves her destitute. With her fiancé desperate for five hundred pounds to recover from a failed gamble, she’s pressured to seek help from her father’s business partner—only to be offered a shocking choice: marry her fiancé immediately, or marry Errol instead. Written by Mary Burchell and E. Tierney, and illustrated with sharp, expressive detail by Enrico Bagnoli and Antonio Toldo, this poignant 1958 tale from the Famous Romance Library explores love, obligation, and the weight of sudden decisions, all rendered in the signature style of Amalgamated Press.

After her father's death in a plane crash, Hope is stunned to learn that he had died penniless. She tells her fiancé of the situation, but not before he tells her he needs five hundred pounds to recover from a stock market gamble that failed. He suggests that she request the money from her father's business partner and she reluctantly agrees. Errol agrees to pay the sum on the condition that she either marries her fiance at once, or she agrees to marry him instead.
