Fairest #13

Vertigo's Fairest #13 (May 2013) closes out "The Hidden Kingdom" arc with a cover by Adam Hughes that immediately commands attention — a fierce, blood-spattered woman raises a blazing sword overhead while straddling a massive, snarling beast with glowing eyes and wisps of ghostly smoke curling around its dark form. The raw tension between the woman's defiant battle cry and the creature looming beneath her sets a wonderfully ominous tone for Lauren Beukes and Iñaki Miranda's "The Hundred Demons Night Parade." If you've been following this arc, this issue looks like a genuinely satisfying payoff.
