This French Panini edition collects stories from Bill Willingham and Mark Buckingham's celebrated Vertigo series, presented here under the title Le Dernier Bastion — "The Last Bastion." The cover draws the eye immediately: a solitary, ghostly white silhouetted figure stands calmly in the foreground while a dramatic, painterly battle scene erupts behind them, filled with warriors, spears, and a striking figure in red commanding the chaos. Awarded eleven Eisner Awards as noted right on the cover, this 2007 volume is a fine entry point into one of Vertigo's most ambitious fantasy series.
