This 2014 Urban Comics edition of Fables volume 18 — subtitled L'Héritier du Vent — brings together Bill Willingham and Mark Buckingham for another chapter in the beloved fairy-tale saga. The cover presents a breathtaking image of a massive, ancient wind-spirit face rendered in sweeping pale greens and golds, his long flowing beard and hair dissolving into the air around him, while several small children — including a red-haired girl and a pale, wide-eyed boy — observe from the edges with cautious wonder. It's a hauntingly beautiful piece that perfectly captures the series' gift for making the mythic feel quietly, powerfully alive.
