Façades #21

Les Eaux Noires is the twenty-first entry in Éditions Polystyrène's Collection Façades, and Thomas Brochard brings a quietly unsettling sensibility to every page. The cover's spare line drawing — a double-doored wardrobe sitting in a shallow puddle, its two round knobs staring back like a pair of eyes — turns an ordinary piece of furniture into something faintly watchful and strange. It's the kind of image that lingers, suggesting that whatever is hidden behind closed doors may be closer to the surface than we'd like to think.
