Exceptional X-Men #13

History

Exceptional X-Men launched in September 2024 as one of three core flagship titles in the X-Men: From the Ashes publishing initiative, which was shepherded by executive editor Tom Brevoort following his replacement of Jordan White as X-Men group editor; the relaunch name itself was reportedly proposed by writer Gail Simone. The series was conceived around Kitty Pryde and Emma Frost mentoring three newly created young mutants in a Chicago setting, and was written throughout by Eve L. Ewing — a sociologist and award-winning author whose prior Marvel credits include the Ironheart series — with interior art on the book's latter half, including issue #13, handled by Federica Mancin, who stepped in alongside series cover artist Carmen Carnero.
