The second issue of Image/Skybound's Excellence arrives with a cover by Khary Randolph that's impossible to look away from — a towering, hooded figure with glowing orange eyes dominates the frame, its white silhouette serving as a kind of stage for two smaller figures tumbling and falling within it, all set against a hypnotic spiral of green and black. The design is bold and purposeful, using negative space and a swirling optical-illusion background to suggest power, control, and something distinctly unsettling. Brandon Thomas, Khary Randolph, and Emilio Lopez's 2019 series continues to look like one of the sharpest visual packages on shelves.
