Nightcrawler takes center stage on this February 1993 issue, his blue form caught mid-struggle as a crowd of grotesque, mutated Warpies — grey, green, and yellow-skinned creatures — swarm him from every direction. Alan Davis and Mark Farmer's cover crackles with kinetic energy, the tagline "Warpies on the Warpath!" making clear that Excalibur's teleporting swashbuckler has his hands very full. It's a wonderfully chaotic composition that sets an intense, dramatic tone for the intriguingly titled interior story, "Of Birth, Death And The Confused, Painful Bit In Between.
