Evolution #14 from Image Comics delivers the series' trademark body-horror dread in vivid style — a massive, pulsating crimson creature with sprawling tentacle-like limbs erupts from the water below a boardwalk, while a small group of bystanders watches from the railing against the eerie glow of a ferris wheel. The contrast between that carnival backdrop and the grotesque biological nightmare unfolding beneath them captures exactly what makes this series so unsettling. With Asmus, Boyd, Infurnari, Keatinge, and Sebela driving this collaboration, 2019's penultimate stretch of Evolution keeps the tension wound tight.
