Eva's Gedacht #[nn]

This 2013 De Bezige Bij Antwerpen release from Eva Mouton features a charmingly loose illustration of a wild-haired girl in a polka-dot top, clutching a fishbowl — and she's in on the joke, with a speech bubble cheerfully announcing "Lachen, hé Henkie! 't is voor de cover." Mouton's scratchy, expressive linework gives the whole thing a wonderfully casual, self-aware energy that sets a playful tone from the very first glance. A delightful little package for fans of witty, hand-drawn Belgian comics.
