Issue thirteen of Jan Dirk Barreveld's Eugène arrives with the perfectly on-brand subtitle Tegenspoed ("Bad Luck"), and the cover delivers immediately — a wide-eyed man and a panicked boy collide in a stumbling heap while a cool, unimpressed black cat slinks away in the foreground, practically owning the whole situation. Barreveld's expressive, rubbery character work is in fine form here, wringing maximum comedic chaos out of a single moment. If this 2024 installment is anything like the cover promises, fans of the series are in for another round of gloriously bad luck and good laughs.
