“Escape!”

"Escape!" is a stark, faith-driven story from Jack T. Chick’s 1972 series, where a college student overwhelmed by ecological despair attempts suicide—only to be stopped by a stranger who offers not just coffee, but a radical alternative: a spiritual escape from Earth’s impending doom. Written and illustrated entirely by Jack T. Chick, the story unfolds as a direct, no-frills conversation that pivots from despair to a message of salvation through repentance and faith.

A man who has been studying ecology in college tries to kill himself by leaping in front of a moving car. The driver offers to go out for coffee with him to find out why he was acting suicidal. After the student explains why the Earth is doomed, the driver explains how we can all escape the doomed planet during The Great Tribulation (but only if we repent our sins and accept Jesus as our savior).
