Escapade #27
In "Bonheur retrouvé," four years after selling his rural estate to Jacques, the now-successful writer returns to find Catherine Santon still living there—her fierce welcome marked by flying pans. Though she’s been painted as a savage by the village, Jacques is drawn to her, unaware of the quiet history that binds them through loss, absence, and the lingering weight of a past that still echoes in the house. The story unfolds with a quiet intensity, grounded in the tension between memory and the present, all rendered in a crisp, typeset lettering style.

Four years earlier, Jacques had bought a rural estate from Hector Santon and now he is returning to live there as a successful writer. But Santon's daughter, Catherine, still lives there and greets him by throwing pans at him. After her father's death, a deal was made for Catherine's mother-in-law to stay there until other arrangements could be made. Josette, who had married Santon for his money, had left without taking Catherine. Now Catherine has a reputation of being something of a savage, but Jacques takes an interest in her.
