“Destiny Coast”

"Destiny Coast" is a quietly powerful story from John Blackburn, marking his first full-length graphic novel in the Eros series. After a decade away, Coley returns to his hometown to reunite with his mother, Lorna Lee, and his brother James, rekindling long-buried connections and quietly reshaping the lives of everyone around him—his mother’s art class, her staff, even the local bar scene. With a restrained intensity and a deeply personal touch, Blackburn’s self-penciled, inked, and lettered work captures a moment of emotional reckoning, where love, memory, and identity collide in the quiet spaces between people.

After 10 long years, Coley returns home for a reunion with his mom, Lorna Lee, and his first true love: his brother, James. Both are astonished to learn he's still alive, and as they come to terms with events past and present, Coley's influence begins to take hold on all around him, including his mother's art class, her maid, gardener, pool boy, and others. Before leaving town, Coley puts on a show at a local bar frequented by gays, and saves James from a crowd of gay-bashers. He encourages James to be a free spirit like he is, and assures him that nothing will ever come between them again.
