A charming entry in this French-language all-ages series, volume 5 — L'école des bêtises ("The School of Mischief") — puts wide-eyed, pink-haired Rebecca front and center at what looks like a very chaotic school desk, surrounded by scattered sweets and her little green germ companion Ernest, who wears an equally mischievous grin. Tiny blue creatures flutter through the air around them, adding to the wonderfully anarchic energy Guillaume Bianco and Antonello Dalena bring to the cover. Published by Le Lombard in 2013, this is exactly the kind of warm, playful comics storytelling that makes the Ernest & Rebecca series such a delight for younger readers and the adults who sneak a peek.
