En enfer avec Dante #[nn]
A graphic adaptation of Dante Alighieri's Inferno brought to vivid life by Michael Meier, this 2015 Casterman volume announces its subject boldly: the title looms large within the silhouette of a massive horned demon, while two small figures — one robed in white, one in red — pick their way through a rocky, smoke-filled underworld far below. The contrast between the towering shadow of Hell and those tiny, determined travelers captures the journey's scale perfectly. Meier handles art, inking, and color entirely on his own, and that striking red-and-black cover palette makes it immediately clear this descent into the Inferno will be anything but ordinary.
