Dagmar Liege, editor of the National Peek-A-Boo tabloid newspaper, convinces Elvira to watch over the newspaper's tabloid files due to a series of burglaries. Elvira uses an ancient book to cast a protective spell, but her house is still broken into. The next night Elvira stays in the room all night but falls asleep and misses the burglar. The following night she drinks copious amounts of coffee and catches the thief, which is a chimpanzee named Felonious Monk.
