The fourth volume in Daedalus's "Een paus in de geschiedenis" series turns its gaze to one of history's most notorious pontificates — the reign of the Borgias. Alessio Lapo's cover is a richly painted tableau: a robed pope seated on a throne commands the center, flanked by a noblewoman in Renaissance finery, an armored knight, and two elegantly dressed courtiers, all set against a backdrop of gilded paintings and opulent interiors. Writer Simona Mogavino and artist Lapo clearly bring a grand, dramatic sensibility to this first of two chapters exploring Alexander VI and the Borgia legacy.
