Edge of Doom #5

The penultimate issue of Steve Niles and Kelley Jones's IDW horror series closes in with genuine dread — Kelley Jones's cover depicts a lone, terrified man sprinting through a crushing horde of skeletal undead, his only light a small lantern dropping from his grasp as rotting hands claw up from the earth around him. It's a masterfully suffocating image, the darkness alive with decomposed faces pressing in from every direction. If you've been following this 2011 anthology of terror, issue #5 makes clear the doom promised in the title has well and truly arrived.
