Tarzan rescues Valthor from some captors and then helps him return to his homeland. On the way they get separated and Tarzan finds himself in the "city of gold", Cathne. Forced to fight in the arena, Tarzan emerges victorious, and Queen Nemone tries to win him to her side. After again rescuing Valthor, now himself in the arena, Tarzan plays along with Nemone, wishing to see something of Cathne.
